Winter with one of the Netsilik families of the Pelly Bay area. Today they live in settlements, but when this film was shot, the Netsilik hunted and travelled much as they had for centuries. In this 1971 production, we follow them to a spot rich in seals, then watch as the men prepare with care and patience for the moment when they can kill one. In late winter, the families build a large communal igloo and relax with some fun and games. Mostly in Inuktitut. (1971) |
